Old School House Bucks

Bucks Mills is a quiet coastal hamlet on the North Devon coast, and this south-facing house sits just under a mile from the beach with the coast path a two-minute walk away. A woodland walk starts practically at the door, and the beach itself suits rock pooling, prawning and fishing. Three bedrooms upstairs sleep six: two king-size rooms, one of which has its own en-suite walk-in shower, and a twin room; the zip-and-link bed in the second king-size room converts to a twin on request at booking. A family bathroom with shower over bath serves the remaining bedrooms, and there is a separate WC on the ground floor.

A boot room handles muddy boots and surfboards before you reach the main rooms. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave; a breakfast bar looks over the garden through patio doors. A utility room holds a fridge-freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining area features exposed ceiling beams and a farmhouse-style dresser, and the lounge beyond has a wood burner with a first basket of logs provided, two sets of French doors and a Smart TV with DVD player. A Smart TV is also fitted in the main king-size bedroom.

Outside, a sunny terrace with garden furniture and a charcoal BBQ catches the afternoon sun, with a raised lawn beyond. Steps lead down to a further gated lawn area that is not fully enclosed, which works well for children and the one dog permitted (additional charges may apply). Off-road parking is provided for up to three cars. EV charging is not available at the property, and Wi-Fi is included throughout.

A post office and shop are within walking distance, while pubs are around two miles away. Westward Ho! and Bude offer long sandy surf beaches within driving distance, and Clovelly is among the family attractions in the area. A travel cot, highchair and an outdoor table tennis table on the terrace are available. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure is before 10:00.
