Lake Retreat

Lake Retreat stands near Ashwater, on the Devon and Cornwall border, with its own private carp lake forming the main feature of the grounds. The open-plan living space has a vaulted ceiling, wood burner and a Smart TV, with patio doors opening onto the decked area for meals outside when the weather allows.

The kitchen has an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, wine cooler and dishwasher, with a central island doubling as a breakfast bar. A separate utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer along with a WC, which sits apart from the property's two proper bathrooms.

Two ground-floor bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, share a Jack-and-Jill shower room, making this a practical layout for a family or two couples sharing. Upstairs, a further lounge area opens onto a mezzanine landing before reaching the master king-size bedroom, which has a sloping ceiling, walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with a shower over the bath. The property sleeps six in total.

Outside, the decked patio is enclosed and furnished with a private hot tub, seating, a charcoal barbecue and a fire pit. Guests have sole use of the stocked carp lake free of charge, along with access to a paddock and woodland walk; supervision is advised near the unfenced water where children or pets are present. Ample private parking is available on site, and a travel cot and highchair can be provided on request. Two dogs are welcome, with additional charges applying.
