Jane's Place

Jane's Place is a stone farmhouse cottage adjoined to the owner's own home, set amid rural countryside close to the village of Lifton on the Devon and Cornwall border. An acre of gardens surrounds the cottage, with far-reaching views and a well-stocked lake. It sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is just a few minutes' drive from the A30.

A cosy sitting room has a large Inglenook fireplace and a woodburning stove, with original timber beams and whitewashed stone walls. The country kitchen/diner is set up for cooking local farm produce, with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, and both bedrooms overlook the gardens and countryside beyond.

Outside, the rear garden is enclosed and catches the evening sun, with a barbecue for warm evenings, while the front lawned garden is not enclosed. Guests can walk around the lake or fish for tench, bream and roach, and there is lockable bike storage on site for anyone bringing bicycles.

One pet is welcome, and smoking is not permitted. Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and bed linen and towels are included in the rent. The staircase has a handrail but turns halfway up, which may not suit everyone with mobility difficulties. Mobile signal is intermittent, though WiFi is available, and the shop and pub are three miles away.
