Giffin Cottage

This cobb cottage dates back some 300 years and sits within a traffic-free zone in Brixham, reached via a set of steep steps at the entrance. The open-plan ground floor combines a beamed sitting room with a wood burner and underfloor heating, alongside a kitchen built from reclaimed wood with a breakfast bar for two and a coffee machine. Steep, cottage-style stairs lead up through the building's three floors.

The first floor holds a reading room or dressing room and a shower room with a compact shower and WC. The second-floor master bedroom has a double bed beneath a sloping ceiling, with a French window opening onto a Juliet balcony offering glimpses of the sea. Sleeping capacity is fixed at two guests.

Outside, an enclosed patio to the front of the cottage has a table and chairs among potted plants, though some areas underfoot are uneven. A washing machine, oven, hob, microwave and fridge are provided in the kitchen, and internet access is available. Logs for the wood burner are not supplied, so guests should bring or arrange their own.

The property is not suitable for children under five, largely due to the steep internal staircases, and general mobility around the steep hill and steps of Brixham should also be considered. One dog is permitted, with additional charges applying. There is no dedicated parking; guests rely on roadside spaces nearby or the pay-and-display Oxen Cove car park, subject to availability.
