The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta runs from Saturday 21 August to Saturday 28 August 2027, with rowing races spanning the full week from Saturday to Saturday and sailing from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 August. The opening ceremony takes place on Wednesday 25 August 2027, and closing fireworks light up the river at 9pm on Saturday 28 August.
The regatta combines competitive water sports with a programme of entertainment, family activities and traditional river events spread across Dartmouth town, the harbour and the River Dart. It’s one of Devon’s oldest annual sporting events, with a heritage dating back to the 19th century.

Venue: Events take place across Dartmouth town, the harbour waterfront and on the River Dart. Viewing areas include the Embankment, Bayard’s Cove and Kingswear side.
Admission: Most regatta events are free to watch from public viewpoints. Some activities and evening entertainment may be ticketed separately.

On the water
Rowing races run from Saturday 21 to Saturday 28 August, with multiple events scheduled daily for different boat classes and age groups. Sailing competitions run from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 August and include dinghy racing, yacht racing, passage races and gig rowing.
The Royal Regatta River Parade takes place on Saturday 29 August, when decorated vessels parade up the river. Other water events include the Kontiki Raft Race, dragon boat racing, children’s treasure hunts and swimming competitions.
On the land
Dartmouth town hosts live music stages, children’s activities, food and drink stalls and market traders throughout regatta week. The Family Fun Weekend precedes the main regatta dates. Evening entertainment and the traditional regatta ball are separately ticketed events.
