The Fish

The Fish is a distinctively shaped lodge on a gated, 10-acre site in North Devon, designed exclusively for two adults. The open-plan living, kitchen and dining area is finished to a high standard, with a sofa, Smart TV, air conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. A Sonos Bluetooth sound system runs throughout, including inside the shower. A screened sleeping area holds a king-size bed, and the shower room is large enough to feel genuinely comfortable.

Step outside onto the private patio and the focal point is the hot tub overlooking the carp fishing lake, with robes and slippers provided. Outdoor dining furniture, sun loungers and a charcoal BBQ area complete the space. Paths lead around the lake, over bridges and into adjacent fields, and four resident alpacas live on the grounds. Two well-behaved small or medium dogs are welcome, though they must be kept on a lead near the alpacas.

Woolacombe beach is around 2 miles away, with beach shops, pubs and restaurants a little further at 2.5 miles. The gated entrance gives the site real privacy, and off-road parking is provided for up to two cars. Friends arriving in a camper van or motorhome can sometimes be accommodated in the car park, but only by prior arrangement with the owner and at extra cost. CCTV covers the driveway and the lake area.

The lake is occasionally made available to visiting fishermen between 9 am and 5 pm; full exclusive use carries an additional charge agreed directly with the owner. The property sleeps a maximum of two, and only babes in arms are welcome beyond that limit. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure before 10:00.
