The Annexe, Higher Lydgate Farmhouse

The Annexe forms one end of a Victorian farmhouse, at the end of a private track about half a mile from the centre of Postbridge in the heart of Dartmoor. Steps lead up to a porch and through French windows into an open-plan living space with a wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen. The cottage sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and one bathroom.

Upstairs, two bedrooms share a bathroom with a bath, shower over and basin: a king-size double and a twin, each with a view over the surrounding moors. The cottage best suits a family of 2 adults and 2 children, and a group of 4 adults is not permitted.

Downstairs, the kitchen has a washer-dryer, microwave, electric oven and hob, plus a fridge and freezer, and the living area has a TV with DVD player, a phone line and WiFi. Power and fuel are included in the rent, and the cottage draws on a private water supply that is tested regularly.

Postbridge sits between Moretonhampstead and Two Bridges next to the East Dart River, with a clapper bridge in the village and walking routes through nearby Bellever Forest. Chagford is around 7 miles away and Okehampton about 19 miles, both reachable by car for a day out beyond the moor.

Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and one well-behaved dog is welcome. The village pub and shop are under a mile away, reached by a footpath from the front of the property in around five minutes. Smoking is not permitted inside.
