Steam Packet Inn

Steam Packet Inn is a six-room inn above a pub on the banks of the River Dart, a five-minute walk from Totnes town centre. The bedrooms were refurbished with en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee trays, a desk and ironing facilities, two of them sized for a family of four.

The restaurant sits inside a large conservatory looking out over the terrace and the river, and the bar keeps a log fire going through the colder months. Food is served all day, from noon until 8:30pm most evenings and until 8pm on Sundays, alongside a selection of wines, beers and spirits. Breakfast starts at 8am on weekdays and half an hour later at weekends.

Totnes Castle is a short uphill walk through the historic town centre, and free on-site parking covers guests arriving by car. The inn also caters for private functions and events on request, in addition to its regular restaurant service, and Wi-Fi is available throughout for guests working remotely.

**Best for:** Guests wanting a riverside pub-with-rooms setup close to Totnes centre, with breakfast and dinner available downstairs.

**Less good for:** Guests wanting a large hotel with leisure facilities or a quiet, standalone building away from a working bar.
