Cornwood barn cottage near Plympton with a tennis court

Pigwigs Place is a cottage converted from a barn within 120 acres of estate grounds a mile from the Dartmoor village of Cornwood, near Plympton. Joined to an 18th-century stable block, it sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and suits families or groups of friends.

A porch steps down into an open-plan living space with beams, a dining area and a wood burning stove, with logs provided. Stairs lead up to the three bedrooms: a king-size double, a twin, and a children's twin lined with a fabric canopy and its own play area. A family bathroom and a separate shower room serve this floor.

The kitchen has a microwave, fridge-freezer, washer-dryer and dishwasher, and the living space has a TV with DVD and WiFi. A cot and highchair are available on request.

Outside is a private enclosed courtyard garden with a tennis court and a barbecue, plus access to woodland, a brook, formal gardens and a pond within the wider estate grounds. Off-road parking is provided for three cars, and up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Smoking is not permitted, and bookings run to a minimum of 5 nights. The cottage draws its own water from a private supply that's tested regularly. A pub is within a mile of the cottage, and the southern slopes of Dartmoor, with their ancient hut circles, are close by for walking, along with Dartmoor Zoo and the beaches at Wembury and Mothecombe.
