Mercure Paignton Hotel

Mercure Paignton Hotel occupies a seafront position on Esplanade Road, a few minutes from Paignton's pier and harbour. The four-star hotel's design takes cues from the town's 19th-century seafront terraces and the English Riviera's UNESCO Global Geopark status, and several rooms look straight out over the bay.

Latitude 50, the hotel's restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with sea views across Torbay. Rooms include a smart TV, a walk-in shower and eco-friendly toiletries, and pet-friendly rooms are available for guests travelling with a dog. A gym is available on site, and Wi-Fi is included throughout the building.

Paignton sits on the English Riviera alongside Torquay and Brixham, with Paignton Zoo a short drive inland and the seafront's beach and gardens directly outside the hotel. Torquay itself is a five-minute drive along the coast road, useful for an evening out without changing hotels.

**Best for:** Couples and groups wanting sea-view rooms and an on-site restaurant within walking distance of Paignton's pier and harbour.

**Less good for:** Guests wanting a self-catering kitchen or a quiet countryside stay - this is a seafront hotel geared toward walking distance to the town.
