Lazy Hare at Jen's Orchard

Lazy Hare at Jen's Orchard is a converted barn in the village of St Giles on the Heath, close to the Devon/Cornwall border and with Virginstow nearby. The building started life as a cow shed and keeps its vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, along with a bar in the first-floor sitting room, where a woodburning stove sits alongside an air source heat pump for warmth. Dartmoor is around 15 miles away.

The double bedroom sits next to a shower room with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The kitchen/diner has an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, plus a separate utility area, and the sitting room upstairs has a TV and WiFi. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent.

Outside, the garden extends to around half an acre with an enclosed patio area for seating, overlooking countryside where guests may spot owls, kingfishers, herons, woodpeckers and buzzards, along with the occasional deer. Off-road parking is provided for several cars. St Giles on the Heath itself has a village shop and pub within about a mile, and EV charging points are available roughly five miles away, near a farm shop and garden centre.

For days out, Tintagel, St Nechtan's Glen, Lydford Gorge and Boscastle are all within reach, and the nearest beach is around half an hour's drive. Launceston has the remains of a castle built around 1070 and a small steam railway running to Newmills, and Roadford Lake nearby has a cafe and is popular for walking dogs, water sports, fishing and archery.

Two well-behaved pets are welcome, and the property is no smoking throughout.
