Cuckoo's Nest

Cuckoo's Nest is a single-storey shepherd's hut on a working farm in West Buckland, near Filleigh, reached up a short flight of wooden steps and around 6.2 miles from South Molton. The hut sleeps 2 in a compact studio layout that combines a double bed, a small kitchen and a dining area warmed by an electric fire, making it a base for a couple rather than a group.

A shower room off the studio has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. The kitchen is fitted with a 2-ring electric hob, a microwave, a fridge with an integral ice box, a kettle and a toaster, enough for simple self-catering. Electric heating covers the hut, and fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent.

Outside, a non-enclosed patio has furniture and a barbecue for meals in the open air, looking out over the farm's fields. The farm keeps a variety of animals, including sheep and hens, and guests can collect fresh eggs from the hens for breakfast. During lambing time, guests can help feed the lambs or take a walk around the field. Off-road parking is provided for 1 car.

The nearest shop is 5 miles away and the nearest pub 3.9 miles. Cuckoo's Nest does not accept pets, and smoking is not permitted inside the hut. WiFi is available throughout the stay, and the shepherd's hut suits guests who don't mind a working farm setting with animals close by.
