Upper Cottage

Upper Cottage is a Grade 2 listed thatched cottage in Rocombe, on the edge of Uplyme close to the Devon-Dorset border. Extended from its original 18th-century structure, it sleeps 6 across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, both on the ground floor.

The ground floor holds a recently modernised kitchen with granite worktops, a wine cooler and underfloor heating, plus a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining room is built around a wood burning stove and seats six at its table, and a snug nearby suits reading or board games. A more recent extension houses a king-size bedroom with French doors onto the garden, next to one of the two ground-floor bathrooms.

Two further double bedrooms sit upstairs, reached by steep wooden cottage stairs, and share a Jack and Jill WC and basin on the first floor. Doorways throughout are low and there are internal steps typical of the cottage's age, so it may not suit very young or less mobile guests.

Outside, a private lawned garden has a terrace, patio and summerhouse, all enclosed by walls and fencing. Private parking is provided for 2 cars, with further unallocated spaces available subject to availability. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. Bookings run on a weekly basis only, smoking is not permitted, and the village shop and pub in Uplyme are around 1.2 and 1.3 miles away.
