The Shippon

The Shippon sits in wooded countryside around 3.6 miles from Barnstaple, with the market town's shops, restaurants and pannier market a short drive off. The cottage sleeps 4 across two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of them en-suite, with surrounding woodland to walk and a field with swings and a trampoline just ahead of the garden.

Upstairs, a double bedroom has its own en-suite shower, basin and WC, and a twin room shares the family bathroom, which has a bath, shower over, basin and WC. Downstairs, the sitting room is built around a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and there's a ground-floor cloakroom off the hall.

The kitchen has an AGA cooker, with a separate electric oven and hobs in the utility room, plus a microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. A music system, Smart TV, Nintendo Wii and WiFi cover evenings in, and a cot, highchair and stairgate are kept at the property for young families, along with a selection of books.

Outside, a patio area with seating opens onto a lawned garden, and off-road parking covers two cars. One well-behaved dog is welcome, and the property is strictly no smoking. Between the first Saturday in May and the last Saturday in September, only weekly bookings starting on a Saturday can be taken; the shop is 4 miles away and the pub 2.7 miles.
