The Roundhouse

The Roundhouse is a large barn conversion on Bickleigh Farm near Halwell, built around a vaulted central hall with a mezzanine seating area reached by a ladder. It sleeps 18 across seven en-suite bedrooms in the main house and a further en-suite family bedroom in a separate annexe.

Two king-size doubles sit on the first floor; the ground floor holds two super king-size doubles, one convertible to a twin, two twin rooms and a further king-size double with French windows to the terrace. The annexe has its own exterior entrance and a family bedroom with a king-size double and two singles, comfortable chairs, a TV and drinks-making facilities. The open-plan first-floor living space has a wood burning stove, a long dining table and a well-equipped kitchen, and a children's den with a TV and a piano sits on the ground floor.

Guests share the farm's indoor pool, play area and games room with other Bickleigh Farm cottages, and the house has its own sunny terrace at the back with furniture and barbecues, plus steps up to a lawn and a meadow for running around. The pool is open from 8am to 8pm, closed briefly on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings during term time, and is occasionally used by the owners' family and friends too. A cot and a highchair can be arranged on request, and three well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Off-road parking is provided for six cars, and WiFi, fuel and power are included in the rent. Bookings between Easter and early September, including short breaks, must start on a Friday or a Monday.

Halwell is a small village in wooded farmland, roughly equidistant from Kingsbridge and Totnes. Bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and there's a tumble dryer and washing machine as well as a dishwasher in the kitchen.
