The Old Bakehouse

This cottage sits directly on the water's edge where a tidal creek meets the River Dart, close to Totnes. It sleeps up to 10 guests across five bedrooms, each with its own en-suite, making it suited to multi-generation family groups or two families sharing rather than large parties: the owners do not accept group, hen or stag bookings, as this remains a family home.

The open-plan ground floor combines a dining area with a large oak table, a contemporary kitchen with breakfast bar, and a lounge with river views, a Smart TV and a wood burner (a first basket of logs is included). A utility area holds the washing machine and tumble dryer, alongside a downstairs WC. Upstairs, bedrooms are arranged over two floors, with the master occupying the second floor and enjoying its own sofa and TV alongside the roll-top bath.

Outside, a decked balcony is suspended over the river with outdoor furniture, and a further private enclosed deck area is accessed via the twin bedroom. Children should be supervised outside at all times given the proximity to open water. Two dogs are welcome, though they are not permitted upstairs or on the furniture, and additional charges may apply.

Private parking is available for four cars, with one space beside the property and three more roughly ten metres along the lane, plus on-site electric vehicle charging. Internet access is provided throughout. A pub lies around 100 metres away, with a shop roughly three miles off. Families travelling with young children will find a travel cot, highchair and stairgate supplied, and CCTV covers the front and back doors, switched off once guests have arrived.
