Pound Cottage

This converted barn sits attached to the owner's 200-year-old farmhouse in the hamlet of Huntshaw, near Great Torrington and close to Gammaton. The whole cottage is on the ground floor, with just one step into the property, and floor-to-ceiling windows bring in countryside views throughout, keeping the rooms bright at every hour.

The single king-size double bedroom has garden views and its own en-suite wet room with a shower, basin and WC. It's a compact escape sleeping 2, with children accepted as babes-in-arms only. The kitchen has slate flooring, an electric oven and hob, microwave, undercounter fridge with ice box and a washing machine, and the sitting room's dining area faces the picture windows. A TV with Freeview, DVD and WiFi are provided for evenings in.

Oil-fired underfloor heating keeps the cottage warm throughout the year, whatever the season. French doors open onto a private patio with furniture, and guests also have shared use of the owner's extensive garden. A travel cot and highchair are available for younger visitors, though the babes-in-arms rule limits who they suit.

One well-behaved dog is welcome, and off-road parking is provided for 1 car. Smoking is not permitted, and the shop and pub are 3.8 miles away in Great Torrington.
