Oceans Embrace

Perched on the fourth floor of a traditional building, this one-bedroom apartment in Ilfracombe looks directly out over the North Devon coast. Two short flights of stairs lead to the eaves where the flat sits, so it suits guests who are comfortable climbing steps. It sleeps two and dogs are not permitted.

Sash windows in both the open-plan living and dining area and the kitchen frame the sea view, and a corner sofa provides plenty of room to stretch out with a book or watch the Smart TV. The kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a Nespresso machine, covering most practical needs without having to venture out. The double bedroom has its own TV, and the bathroom is fitted with a shower over the bath.

Private off-road parking for one car is included alongside Wi-Fi. The town's pubs, cafes, shops and beaches are all within half a mile, making daily essentials easy to reach on foot without needing to move the car.

Walkers and cyclists are well placed for Exmoor National Park, where moorland trails give a reasonable chance of spotting red deer or Exmoor ponies. The harbour is close enough for boat trips out into the Bristol Channel or across to Lundy Island, and the Tarka Trail is the UK's longest traffic-free walking and cycling route.
