Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel

Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel stands beside Exeter's ancient city walls in the heart of the city, a short walk from the Quayside and Exeter Cathedral, whose towers are visible from a number of its rooms. The 4-star hotel is part of the Accor group, with the ALL loyalty scheme available to members who book direct.

Inside, a health and fitness centre runs to an indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym, useful after a day on foot around the city. Bedrooms come with Freeview TV and tea and coffee making facilities, and several interconnecting rooms suit families or groups travelling together. Meeting rooms are also available for anyone combining a stay with business in the city.

The Brasserie Bar serves cocktails and afternoon tea, and the restaurant works with produce sourced from across Devon for its seasonal menu. Exeter University sits around 1.5 miles away and Crealy Adventure Park about 2 miles, while Dartmoor's open moorland is roughly 15 miles to the west and Torquay's seafront is about 20 miles south.

**Best for:** city-centre stays with a pool and gym on site, and business guests wanting Brasserie Bar and meeting space under one roof.

**Less good for:** guests wanting a small, independent hotel rather than a large chain property, or a quiet rural setting away from the city centre.
