Kingsley Mill

This former mill house dates from the 18th century and stands within the owner's grounds on the banks of the River Torridge, close to Black Torrington. It sleeps up to four guests and sits at the end of a tree-lined drive, with a traditional Devon longhouse across the driveway.

The ground floor holds a utility room with washing machine and a separate WC, while stairs lead up to an open-plan lounge, kitchen and diner with views over the garden and river. This first-floor living space has comfortable seating, a Smart TV and an electric wood-burner-effect fire, plus a dining area seating four. The kitchen is fitted with an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, and there is a further full-size fridge/freezer in the garage.

Both bedrooms are also on the first floor: a four-poster double and a twin zip-and-link room that can be converted to super-king-size on request, each with its own TV. A travel cot and highchair are available, though the travel cot's size suits the twin room only. Outside, a private hot tub sits in an area fenced for children and dogs, and the wider garden and orchard run down to the river, where fishing can be arranged (licence required). Fell ponies and sometimes sheep graze the surrounding land, and part of the lawn is left long in spring to support local wildlife, so paths to the river are kept narrow rather than formally mown.

Off-road parking is provided for two cars, and a charcoal barbecue is available for guests. The property allows up to three dogs, with an additional charge, though supervision is needed with children and pets near the river at the bottom of the garden. Arrival is from 16:30 and departure before 10:00.
