Becks Meadow Lodge

Becks Meadow Lodge is an adults-only retreat in Black Torrington, near Holsworthy, set up for two guests and no more. The owner is clear that the maximum occupancy is two at all times and that no infants or children are accepted, making it a lodge suited to couples looking for a quiet break without distraction.

Stable doors open into a bright open-plan kitchen, sitting and dining room with original beams. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with ice compartment, dishwasher, washing machine and a Lavazza coffee machine (pods not provided). A wood burner, with the first basket of logs included, sits alongside a Smart TV for evenings in. The double bedroom is decorated in light colours, and the shower room has a walk-in shower and WC.

Outside, a fully enclosed lawned garden has a decked area with bistro table and BBQ. The private hot tub features built-in lighting and a music system; for health and safety reasons it is cleaned and refilled between every changeover, so it will not be at full temperature on arrival and takes around 24 hours to reach it. Hot tub towels are provided, and an outdoor tap handles muddy boots and paws. Off-road parking is available for one car, and there are no electric vehicle charging facilities on site.

Two dogs are welcome, with additional charges that may apply. The Tarka Trail and the North Devon coast are both within reach, and Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are driveable. A pub is within walking distance, a shop is roughly two miles away, and the nearest beach is around 16 miles.
