Hope Cottage

Hope Cottage is a thatched cottage on the side of the Cottwood valley on the edge of Riddlecombe, near Winkleigh, reached down narrow, winding lanes that call for confident driving. The kitchen and sitting room both have a wood burning stove, set within rolling farmland and woodland with plenty of footpaths, and the cottage sleeps 6 across three bedrooms upstairs.

Bedrooms are two doubles, one king-size, and a twin whose beds can link into a king-size double, sharing a shower room and a ground-floor bathroom with bath, WC and basin. The kitchen has a dining area alongside the wood burning stove, plus a utility room, a Smart TV with DVD and WiFi, and a separate Garden Retreat Room with its own WiFi for those wanting to work outdoors. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the rent.

Parking is narrow and fits two medium-sized cars. The enclosed garden has a cobbled terrace, a decked area, a covered pond and sloping lawns, reached up steps from the driveway. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome, and a cot and highchair are available on request. The Tarka Trail is nearby for walking and cycling, most easily reached from Puffing Billy near Torrington, and there is coarse fishing locally.

Mobile phone coverage is extremely limited around the cottage, and smoking is not permitted.
