Secluded Bridford cottage near Doddiscombsleigh with a dog-friendly garden

Engine House stands in the hamlet of Bridford, reached along a farm track, a short distance from Doddiscombsleigh in the Teign Valley on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. The single-storey cottage was once the engine house for the Scatter Rock quarry, which closed in 1954, and is surrounded by trees and woodland with views out to the Haldon Hills. It sleeps 4 across a double and a twin bedroom.

The open-plan living room holds the kitchen, dining area and sitting area, with french doors opening onto the terrace. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over, a basin and a WC. Oil central heating covers the cottage, and the kitchen is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, alongside a TV with DVD player and WiFi.

Outside, the enclosed rear garden is formed within the remaining industrial walls of the old quarry building, with a picnic bench, while the lawned front garden has its own picnic table and bench and space for off-road parking for four cars. The rear garden is multi-level with some steep areas and one steeply wooded bank to one side.

Engine House takes one well-behaved dog, and the property is no smoking. A shop is a mile away and the pub is 0.8 miles, and short breaks run for a minimum of 3 nights.
