West Down Country House

West Down Country House stands in the countryside near South Molton, a three-storey house built for large gatherings. A woodburning stove anchors the sitting room, and a conservatory looks out over the surrounding countryside, giving guests another place to settle in as a group.

The eight bedrooms are spread across the house, several with en-suite facilities, alongside a further shower room, a bathroom and a first-floor cloakroom for busy mornings. A second-floor snug gives a quieter spot away from the main living areas, and the kitchen and dining rooms are set up for cooking and eating together, with two ovens, two gas hobs, a coffee maker, two dishwashers and two washing machines between them.

Outside, the multi-level garden holds a pizza oven and barbecue for outdoor dining, plus a hot tub, a cold plunge bath and a wood-fired sauna, with seating dotted across the different levels. Ample off-road parking is provided, and biomass heating covers the house, with fuel and power included in the rent.

Five well-behaved dogs are welcome for an extra charge, and the owner may take more by direct arrangement; confirm the pet policy when booking. Smoking isn't permitted. The shop and pub are 2.3 miles away, and South Molton's Pannier Market, Exmoor National Park and Barnstaple's museum and market are all within driving distance for a day out.
