Welcombe Cottage

This substantial cottage near Welcombe, Devon, sleeps 17 across eight bedrooms, making it suited to large family gatherings or groups travelling together. Three of the bedrooms sit on the ground floor, including a double with an en-suite Jack-and-Jill bathroom, a triple with three single beds, and a bunk room suitable for children only. The remaining bedrooms are arranged on the first floor and reached via two separate staircases, among them a super-king room with an additional single day bed and a twin room with a sloping, beamed ceiling.

The kitchen/diner has a beamed ceiling, a wood burner and French doors opening outside, plus an electric range oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and two dishwashers. A separate utility room holds a further fridge/freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Two ground-floor lounges include a library-style sitting room with an open fire and a connecting TV room with a Smart TV and Xbox console. Internet access is available throughout.

Outside, a lawned garden with sea views leads onto a decked patio with garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue. The heated outdoor pool, available between Easter and the end of October, has an enclosure that can be opened or closed depending on conditions, and a private hot tub sits in a cobbled courtyard at the rear. A games room with table tennis and air hockey adds further entertainment, and off-road parking is provided on the driveway.

A travel cot and highchair are available for younger visitors, and towels are included for the house, though guests should bring their own for the pool and hot tub. Dogs are not permitted, and fireworks or Chinese lanterns are prohibited due to livestock and horses kept nearby. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out by 10am.
