The Bark House

The Bark House sits on the banks of the River Exe in Oakfordbridge, a small village near Bampton in mid Devon. Once a traditional pub, the stone-built house keeps its exposed beams and stonework while sleeping 13 across six bedrooms and five bathrooms. A shop is around 3 miles away and a pub about 1 mile.

Four of the six bedrooms are doubles with en-suite walk-in showers, including one with its own kitchenette. A twin room and a single room complete the sleeping arrangements, and a separate family bathroom with a shower over the bath serves the group alongside the four en-suites.

The dining room has an open fire and a feature bar, and a separate sitting room offers further space to relax. The kitchen is fitted with two ovens and hobs, two microwaves, a fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher, and a dedicated games room has a pool table and dart board. Central heating runs alongside the open fire, with fuel, power and a starter pack for it included in the rent. TV and WiFi cover the house, and bed linen and towels are included.

Outside, a patio holds furniture for alfresco dining and a lawned garden and orchard include a firepit. Off-road parking covers up to 10 cars, useful for a group this size. The Bark House does not accept pets and is no smoking throughout.
