Rivertide Retreat

This cottage sits beside the river in Bere Ferrers, on the Bere Peninsula near the Cornwall border, with direct access to the foreshore at the bottom of the garden. Original exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace with a bread oven run through the lounge, alongside a farmhouse-style kitchen with a gas range oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A conservatory off the kitchen makes a spot for meals with a view over the water.

Sleeping up to eight across four bedrooms, the layout puts three bedrooms upstairs on the first floor: one double, one twin and one bunk room, sharing a bathroom with a separate shower cubicle and WC. The master king-size bedroom occupies the second floor alone, with sloping ceilings, velux windows and its own en-suite shower room and WC.

Outside, an enclosed garden has seating and a barbecue, with room to store paddle boards or kayaks given the direct foreshore access. A low wall runs along the bottom of the garden with a significant drop at low tide, so small children need supervision near it. A wood burner in the lounge comes with a first basket of logs included, and the washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in the garage rather than the main house.

Wi-Fi is included, and free parking is available around 50 yards from the property rather than directly outside. Two dogs are welcome, with additional charges applying. Tennis courts, playing fields and children's climbing frames are within walking distance, along with a pub, while a shop is around two miles away. A travel cot and highchair are provided for families with younger children.
