Maristow Barton

Maristow Barton is a detached Georgian house on a 6,000-acre estate beside the River Tavy, close to Lopwell Dam and about a mile and a half from Milton Combe, with Bere Ferrers the nearest holiday destination. The house sleeps 16 across eight bedrooms on two floors, and the ground floor holds a hall, sitting room, TV room, kitchen and laundry room.

Four bedrooms sit on the first floor: a super king-size with an en-suite double shower room, a twin that links to a super king-size with its own en-suite shower room, a king-size with an en-suite shower room, and a further super king-size sharing a separate shower room along the corridor. The second floor holds two king-size doubles, each with an en-suite bathroom with a slipper bath, and two twin rooms that link to a super king-size, sharing a second en-suite bathroom with a bath. A WC on the ground floor serves the communal rooms.

The sitting room has an open fire and a dining area for group meals, and a separate TV room gives a quieter spot for films. The kitchen is fitted with a microwave, three fridges and a dishwasher, and the laundry room has a washing machine and tumble dryer. A games room holds a table tennis table, and a jetty on the river lets guests launch their own small boat. WiFi and a landline cover contact with the outside world, and fuel and power are included in the rent.

Maristow Barton welcomes three well-behaved dogs, and off-road parking is provided for up to 10 cars. The enclosed garden has a gas barbecue for outdoor meals, and barns beside the house store bikes for exploring the nearby Plym Valley cycle track. A cot and highchair are available on request, smoking is not permitted inside, and only full-week bookings are accepted, with no short breaks.
