The Old Police House

The Old Police House stands in the centre of Braunton, a terraced former station converted into a four-bedroom holiday house. A minimum stay of two nights applies, and during school holidays only weekly bookings starting on a Friday can be taken.

The former ground-floor cell now holds a bedroom with bespoke bunk beds, and three further bedrooms sit on the first floor: a king-size double, a double with patio doors onto the garden, and a family room made up as a zip-link twin, a king-size double, or three single beds on request. The bathroom has a freestanding bath, a separate double shower, basin and WC, and there's an outside toilet too.

The kitchen has a dining area and leads through to a utility room and a surfboard storage area, and the sitting room has a large TV. Cooking is by electric oven and hobs, with a microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher also fitted, and a DVD player and WiFi cover evenings in. Gas central heating runs throughout, with fuel and power included in the rent, and the open fire is decorative only.

The enclosed rear garden is reached via steps and has a small lawn plus a raised decked area with furniture and a barbecue, with views over the village. There's no dedicated parking on site, though cars can stop to load and unload outside, and further parking is available a short walk away on residential streets or in the council pay and display car park. Dogs are welcome (confirm how many when booking); the house is no smoking throughout.
