The Smithy

The Smithy is a Grade II-listed stone cottage in Croyde, one of North Devon's best-known surf villages. It sleeps four across two bedrooms and suits a couple with a child, or two adults sharing. Two dogs are welcome, though additional charges may apply.

Inside, the open-plan living and dining area has original wooden beams and a Charnwood wood burner set against tiled surrounds, practical on cooler evenings and a genuine focal point of the room. A wooden dining table beside cottage windows seats the group comfortably for meals in. The kitchen is fitted with farmhouse-style wooden worktops, an electric cooker, microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee machine and a washer-dryer. Worth noticing underfoot: an original well preserved beneath a glass panel in the kitchen floor.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a king-size zip-and-link bed that can be made up as twins on request. The second bedroom has a double bed alongside a high bunk bed suitable only for a child. One bathroom serves the cottage, with a shower over the bath and WC.

Outside, a sheltered paved courtyard at the front of the property has garden furniture and is a workable spot for eating outside. Private parking for one car is available on site. Arrival is from 16:00 and departure before 10:00.
